[Top 5] Megadeth Guitarists

Who are Megadeth's best five guitarplayers of all time?* Well, here is my answer:

5. Jeff Young
You can make a case for Al Pitrelli and especially for Glen Drover as well, but I gave Jeff Young the fifth spot on my list, because of his participation on Megadeth's classic "So Far, So Good... So What?".  His energetic style of playing matched perfectly with Megadeth's cutting third longplayer.

4. Chris Broderick
Current Megadeth lead-guitarist. Multiinstrumentalist and Megadeth's most technically skilled guitarist. Check out his many Youtube-Videos, like the "Betcha Can't Play This" series:

3. Chris Poland
Poland played lead-guitar on Megadeth's groundbreaking second longplayer "Peace sells... But Who's Buying?" and the furious debut "Killing Is My Business.. And Business Is Good!". His jazz-fusion style of playing made him one of the most recognizable and innovative guitarists of the 1980's. In a surprise turn in 2004, Dave Mustaine requested Poland to record guitar solos for the Megadeth record The System Has Failed.

2. Marty Friedman
He's part of Megadeth's most popular LP's (Rust In Peace, Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia) and most memorable guitar-soli. Known for his use of exoctic scale and melodic phrasing. Check out his superb solo on Megadeth's classic "Tornado Of Souls":

1. Dave Mustaine
Of course Mustaine! Who else should be on the number one spot? Megadeth's mastermind, lead-singer, songwriter, enfant terrible and only constant bandmember.  He wrote some of Heavy Metal's most vicious guitar-riffs and played some great soli for Megadeth and early Metallica.

* Note: Only guitarist who've played on Megadeths LP's are considered on the list. That's why Slayer's Kerry King is not on the list.
