[Video] DAVE MUSTAINE & RICKY WARWICK Talk Tour Stories, Songwriting Inspiration

For the premiere of Fuse's newest digital series, Metalhead to Head, we got Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine and Thin Lizzy frontman Ricky Warwick in a room together. Then rolled cameras as they talked about whatever they wanted.

In part one of the episode—which you can watch above, with part two below—Mustaine and Warwick reminisce on the times their bands spent touring together in the '90s. Mustaine looks back on the moment in Antrim, Ireland, when his on-stage comments started a riot among the crowd. And Warwick—who was born in Northern Ireland himself—reveals how the turbulence in his home country affected his songwriting.
Both videos contain entrancing music demonstrations from the two legends. Mustaine, who was the original lead guitarist of Metallica, admits to completely re-evaluating his guitar playing after leaving the band before forming Megadeth: "I went from playing guitar because I loved it, to playing guitar because I was pissed."
Check out part two of the episode (below) to hear Mustaine talk about Megadeth returning to the studio, to learn whether Warwick believes there will be an Almighty reunion and to see both men pick up their guitars and jam together.

You can watch the first episode on the official Fuse site on the link below:

[News] New LED ZEPPELIN Tour With ALTER BRIDGE Singer?

According to The Pulse Of Radio, ALTER BRIDGE and Slash vocalist Myles Kennedy almost added a third gig to his resume in 2008, and it was a massive one — working with the instrumental members of LED ZEPPELIN on a new project that never saw the light of day. Kennedy rehearsed and wrote music with guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham over the course of two sessions, telling VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show", "Those rehearsals I will remember to my dying day… We played 'The Rain Song', which is probably my favorite LED ZEPPELIN song, 'No Quarter', 'Kashmir'. It was a lot of fun."

Page and Jones were looking for a way to keep working following LED ZEPPELIN's incredible one-off performance at the O2 Arena in London in December 2007.

Although there were rumors of staggering sums being offered to the group for a full tour, singer Robert Plant elected to continue with his solo career instead.

Page and Jones also tried out AEROSMITH's Steven Tyler and SOUNDGARDEN's Chris Cornell, with Page telling Rolling Stone in 2012, "Various people thought we should go on tour. I thought we needed a good, credible album, not do something that sounded like we were trying to milk the (reunion)."

[News/ Boob Flash] Body Count Returns! (WARNING: female nudity)

BODY COUNT, the metal band fronted by former pimp, legendary rapper and now television-star Ice-T, will take part in this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Ice T announced this on the latest episode of his "Final Level" podcast.

During the early and mid 1990's BODY COUNT were considered the most dangerous band in the world. The us-government saw a big threat in BODY COUNT and their message (especially in the song "Cop Killer"). The bands aggression was a product of the Los Angeles Riots, polic brutality and racism in general.

But the band isn't just a political statement, they also paved the way for all upcoming crossover/ rapcore acts and african american heavy metal bands. Their debut "Body Count (1991)" is a perfect blend between early 90's Thrash-Metal, traditional Hard Rock and Hardcore Punk.

Ther new record "Manslaugther" will be released this spring. Watch out!

Check out their classic hit "Body Count's In The House"!!!

[Top 5] Cover Songs Played By METALLICA

5. "Astronomy" (Blue Öyster Cult) - Garage Inc., 1998

The best new recorded coverversion on the overall grandiose Garage Inc. compilation album. that should say it all!!!

4. "Stone Cold Crazy" (Queen) - Enter Sandman (Single), 1991

Metallica covered the song as their contribution to the 1990 compilation album Rubáiyát – Elektra's 40th Anniversary. This cover version was later used as a B-side of their "Enter Sandman" single and subsequently won a Grammy Award!

3. "Last Caress" (Misfits) - The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re-Revisited, 1987

The late and great Cliff Burton got Metallica into the Misfits. While driving, Burton would commandeer the tape player and play the Misfits non stop. Eventually, the rest of Metallica got into the band and recorded the already awesome song for their "Garage Days EP" after Burton's death.

2. "So What?" (Anti Nowhere League) - Sad But True (Single), 1993

Metallica released the song as a B-side to the "Sad But True" single and later included on the Garage Inc. album too, it is also a bonus track on the Asian version of Metallica. "So What?" would go on to become an in-concert standard for the band.

Fun Fact: Metallica performed the songs "Last Caress" and "So What?"on the MTV European Music Awards,  instead of performing their single "King Nothing" as scheduled. The MTV executives told the band that they weren't allowed to use any curse words during their time on live TV, and upset with the scripted, family-friendly MTV antics, Metallica simply played non-TV friendly songs. The song "So What?" is known for its amount of expletives and references to Bestiality among many other controversial lyrics while "Last Caress" has lyrics pertaining to murder and rape. As a result of their performance Metallica's performance and references to Metallica have been removed from future broadcasts of the ceremony.

"Last Caress/ So What?" live at the MTV European Music Awards in 1996

1. "Am I Evil?" (Diamond Head) - Creeping Death (Single), 1984

Originally released by Diamond Head in 1980 on the"Lightning to the Nations" album, Metallica have already released their version in their 1984's "Creeping Death" single in 1984. It's also features in the "Wherever I May Roam" single (live version recorded on 1991 in Moscow, Russia) and in the The Unforgiven II single (live version recorded on 1997 in London, England).

Metallica have played this song live for 750 times, first in March 14, 1982, in Anaheim, CA. Diamond Head has stated that the band's members are flattered by the cover, and that the royalties from it have enabled the band to continue.

[News] Anthrax's Scott Ian doesn't think S.O.D will reform again

Anthrax's Scott Ian said on a radio-interview that a S.O.D. (Stormtroppers Of Death) reunion is very unlikely to happen due lack of demand:

Ian: "I don't think someone could pay us enough money to make that happen. I think of S.O.D. as being much bigger than it probably actually is. So to get me to do it, someone would really, really have to want it to happen. People talk about it, and people look back on it, and I know a lot of people, of course, love that record and what we did, but I'll just say it again. When we did it, it's not like people came out like gangbusters and went crazy for it… Some shows in Europe they did, and Japan. But we toured the States in 1999 and 2000, we made two runs through, and it's not like we were selling a lot of tickets. So people had their chance. That kind of had a lot to do with the fact, in my mind, where I felt like we did too much. When we came out, we gave everybody a chance to see it, and people that came out to see it had a great time, but I didn't need to go do it again after that and turn S.O.D. into just a regular band, like a regular gig with baggage. I already have a regular gig, I don't need a second band. S.O.D., for me, was only supposed to be for fun, and then it wasn't fun anymore — it became work — and I already have enough work."

S.O.D. was a great and highly influential '80s crossover thrash band featuring Scott Ian, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, ex-Anthrax bassist Dan Lilker and frontman Billy Milano from M.O.D.

[January] Album Of The Month: Grand Magus "Triumph And Power"

"Triumph And Power" is a traditional Heavy Metal album with bad ass lyrics about fighting for glory,  epic melodies and testosteron boosting guitar-riffs!
Having said that, the LP isn't as cheesy as you might think. The album features really heavy (down tuned) guitars, Janne „JB“ Christoffersson's charsimatic vocals and no corny keyboard bombast.
It's an oxymoron, but Grand Magus created a perfect modern traditional heavy metal record.

Hipsters will hate it, true metal fans will support the bands fight for triumph and power!

Rating: 4/5
